Current Officers with the Springfield Police Department
Chief John Nicholson- Chief Nicholson began working for the Springfield Police Department in 1989. From 1996-2002 he was the Police Sergeant. He was promoted to Chief on December 7th, 2002. Chief Nicholson serves as our training officer in numerous areas. He on the Brown County TRIAD board, serves on the Brown County Victims Service Board, and is also part of the Salvation Army Board. John is also a member of the Springfield Ambulance Service and is a Reserve for the Brown County Sheriff's Office.
Officer Joseph Micka- Officer Micka started working for our department part time in May, 2005. In December, 2005 Officer Micka was hired as a full time officer.
Officer Justin Robertson - Officer Robertson began working as a full-time officer for the Springfield Police Department in January 2007.
Officer Andy Mathwig - Officer Mathwig has worked part-time for our department since March, 2012. He began working for us as a full-time officer in February, 2014.
Officer Michael Gordon- Officer Michael Gordon is the newest full-time officer for the Springfield Police Department. He began is duties in June 2015.
Officer Eric Schwarzrock - Officer Schwarzrock has worked for our department since October 2004. He works part-time for us and is a full-time Deputy with the Brown County Sheriff's Office.
Officer Erik Gratz- Officer Gratz joined the department in November 2014 as a part-time officer.
Officer Eric Hanson- Officer Hanson joined the department in April 2016 as a part-time officer.
Officer David Gordon- Officer David Gordon joined the department in May 2016 as a part-time officer.
Margaret Potter- Margaret has been the Animal Control Officer/Pet Shelter Attendant for the City of Springfield since March 2016.
