About the City of Springfield EDA
The Springfield Economic Development Authority (EDA) was established in 1988 with a seven-member board appointed by the City Council. The EDA is dedicated to keeping our community vibrant, growing, and full of opportunities. Think of us as the "let’s-make-this-happen" team for local business and development.
We work to strengthen Springfield’s economy by supporting new businesses, helping existing ones expand, and encouraging smart, long-term growth. From recruiting entrepreneurs to assisting local owners with resources, programs, and connections, we’re here to make doing business in Springfield easier and more successful.
Current EDA Programs:
- Revolving loan fund for business startups and expansions
- Up to $40,000 in loan/grant assistance for roof and building structure repairs in the commercial district
- $10,000 grant/loan program for childcare startups
- Down Payment Assistance Program for new home builds in Springfield
- Leads efforts on new housing developments to expand residential options for the community
The EDA also manages tools like our revolving loan fund and development incentives because, when our businesses thrive, so does our entire community. In short: we build, we support, we partner, and we plan. All to keep Springfield moving forward.

Economic Development Authority Board
The Economic Development Authority Board is Council appointed. The Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 9:00 am in the Community Center Conference Room.
